ABOUT
History
Founded in 1970 as the Kanata March Hares, the Club fielded a team at the Peewee level. Since that time, the football club has undergone numerous changes and achieved enormous success. In 1993 the Kanata Knights name was adopted and the modern football age in Kanata took to the gridiron. In 1991 the Cheerleading program was founded at both Junior and Senior levels. In 1994 the Kanata Knights Tyke Team was established, followed by Girls Flag in the 2000’s.
In 2019 The Kanata Knights celebrated 50 Years in the Ottawa valley, as one of the oldest football organizations in the area, we hope to continue a long-standing traditions and excellence.
PAST CHAMPIONSHIPS
2025
The Kanata Knights U10 football team captured the Gilchrist B Cup Championship in an exciting display of teamwork and determination. Their hard work throughout the season paid off as they played with heart, skill, and sportsmanship to bring home the title.
2024
The Kanata Knights Football Club triumphed in the Varsity Stephen Dean Championship with grit, teamwork, and determination. This victory was marked by a dominant performance and a relentless drive to succeed, solidifying their reputation as a powerhouse in youth football.
2023
The Kanata Knights Football Club once again proved their mettle, securing the Varsity Stephen Dean Championship. Their consistent excellence and dedication to the sport were on full display throughout their championship run.
2022
A stellar year for the Knights! The Varsity team clinched the Stephen Dean Championship, showcasing their powerful and cohesive play.
Adding to the club’s success, the Tyke team also earned a A-Cup championship title with an outstanding display of skill and teamwork.
2021
The Kanata Knights PeeWee team triumphed in the NCAFA A Cup Championship, securing a well-earned victory with a dominant performance.
2018
In a banner year, the Varsity team captured the Stephen Dean Championship. The Midget team also brought home a championship, defeating the West Ottawa Knights and kicking off the club’s 50th-anniversary quest with two undefeated seasons.
2008
A year of widespread success for the Knights! The PeeWees won the Chorney “B” Cup, while the Boys Bantam Tackle team won the prestigious A Cup Championship. Not to be outdone, the Girls Bantam Touch team completed an undefeated 10-game season to win the City Championship.
2007
The Knights PeeWees had a season to remember, posting an undefeated record and winning the City A Championship. The Knights Girls Touch Football teams dominated the playoffs, with the senior girls winning the A Championship and the PeeWee Girls capturing the B Championship.
2005
Celebrating its 35th season in style, the Kanata Knights achieved a major milestone by winning both Western Division trophies and City Championship titles at the Mosquito and Bantam levels. Both teams recorded perfect 10-0 seasons. The Mosquitoes won the Broadway Cup, bringing home the club’s first-ever city title at that level. The PeeWees won a thrilling Sullivan C Conference title, scoring on the final play of the game to win 21-20.
2004
The PeeWee team had a fantastic season, winning the Sullivan A Division City Championship and the Western Division trophy. The Mosquitoes continued their reign by winning the Broadway Cup for the fourth consecutive season. The Girls Touch football teams also excelled, winning city titles at both the PeeWee and Bantam levels.
2003
A dominant year for the Knights! The Tykes won the Sullivan A Division City Championship, the Wilson Cup Provincial Championship, the Western Division trophy, and the Little Caesar’s Cup. The Mosquitoes secured the Little Caesar’s Cup for the third straight season, and the PeeWees won the Sullivan A Division City Championship and the Western Division trophy.
2002
The PeeWee team earned the Sullivan A Division Championship for the first time since 1985 and also captured the Thanksgiving Classic Trophy. The Tyke team won the Matte B Division Championship, and the Mosquitoes won the Little Caesar’s Cup while also claiming the Western Division trophy.
2001
The Mosquito team won the Little Caesar’s Cup against the Nepean Redskins, and the PeeWee team captured the Matte B Division trophy.
2000
For a second consecutive season, the Tyke and Mosquito teams swept the Nepean Redskins with Little Caesar’s Cup victories. The PeeWee team captured the Thanksgiving Classic Trophy against the West Ottawa Vikings, while the Bantams won the Shane Norris Memorial Trophy. The Tykes also won the Western Division Championship.
1999
Kanata’s Tyke and Mosquito teams both won Little Caesar’s Cup games against the Nepean Redskins. The PeeWee team captured the Thanksgiving Classic Trophy against the West Ottawa Vikings, and the Bantams won the Shane Norris Memorial Trophy. The Mosquitoes were also crowned Western Division Champions. Measured by total games won across all divisions, the Kanata Knights were the top football club in NCAFA during regular-season play.
1998
A successful year across the board, the Kanata Tykes, Mosquitoes, and PeeWee teams all won Matte Cups (Division B), while the Bantams captured the Rowe Cup (Division C).
1997
The Tykes capped a perfect 12-0 season by winning their first Western Division Championship and their second City Championship in three years. The Mosquitoes, PeeWees, and Bantams also brought home Rowe Cup (Division C) championships to Kanata.
1995
The Tykes won their first Division I Championship, and the Mosquitoes won the Western Division Championship.
1994
The PeeWees won the Division 2 Championship.
1990
In a hard-fought battle, the PeeWees shared the Division 3 Championship with the Nepean Rams after a 0-0 triple-overtime playoff game.
1989
The Mosquitoes won the Western Division Championship, and the PeeWees won the Division 3 Championship.
1987
The Russell Ancheta Memorial Trophy was awarded at the Mosquito level.
1985
A historic year for the Knights, as the PeeWees won Kanata’s first Western Division and Division I Championship.
1982
The Mosquitoes won the Division 2 Championship.
1978
Both the PeeWees and Mosquitoes won the Division 2 Championship.
